Using an online survey, partici- pants were invited to choose from five overall categories that encompassed Federation's local and international partner agencies and programs. All community members were eligible to vote. Using the survey, participants were asked to break their votes down into percentages for each category, mir- roring the allocation process that Federation goes through as it weighs the various needs throughout the community. The main goal of Jewish Detroit Votes was to educate the community into the work of Federation and its partner agencies. The $50,000 fund was a special one-time allocation and was not a part of the Annual Campaign, which raises money each year to support the Jewish community. By evaluating the many important agencies and programs, participants were given firsthand insight into the breath of services and activities in the community, and the inter- related way in which they work with Federation, as well as each other, to serve Jewish Detroit. The results of the voting are as follows: • Our Family: 33 percent Hebrew Free Loan, Jewish Senior Life, Jewish Family Service, JVS • Our Future: 16 percent Hillel of Metro Detroit, MSU Hillel, U of M Hillel, NEXTGen Detroit • Our Homeland: 13 percent World ORT, Birthright Israel, Jewish Agency for Israel, Partnership2Gether, Teen Mission to Israel 2014, 'DC • Our Knowledge: 21 percent Akiva Hebrew Day School, Hillel Day School, Yeshiva Beth Yehudah, Yeshiva Darchei Torah, Yeshiva Gedolah, Frankel Jewish Academy, Federation's Alliance for Jewish Education • Our Spirit: 17 percent BBYO, Jewish Community Center, Tamarack Camps, Jewish Community Relations Council The $50,000 was divided evenly, according to the final percentages. Federation offers "mazel toy" to all its schools and agencies and thanks those who voted. ❑
