ext year in Jerusalem!" And
with that well-known phrase,
Kalamazoo College's Jewish
Student Organization's Passover seder
had come to a conclusion.
Each year, more than 50 members of
the KCollege community gather together
to celebrate this important holiday. The
crowd includes members of the JSO,
friends of members, students who have
never been to a seder before, as well as
Jewish and non-Jewish faculty and staff
with their families.
The on-campus seder is an opportunity
for students, faculty and staff to celebrate
with their K family and is a much-antici-
pated event. The inclusion of faculty and
staff members' children makes the event
all the more fun.
We said the prayers, shared a meal,
found the afikomen, sang songs and
became better acquainted with those in
our surrounding community. This is the
biggest event our JSO sponsors each year,
and I am always amazed at what great
work our students can produce.
The JSO worked several months to pre-
pare for the seder. We booked the space,
determined the menu and planned the
budget.

carrying on a tradition I have always appreciated."

As the event approached, we gathered
and divided up the service so that each
interested JSO member had the opportu-
nity to help lead. The night of the seder
we worked together to hide the afikomen
and greet people as they walked in the
doors.
For me, this seder is a culmination of
four years of JSO experiences. The types
of events we hold each year change,
except for the seder. I have attended the
seder each year, and leading it this year
was particularly special.
The seder reminds me of the leaders in
years past that I have looked up to and
respected. Having the opportunity to take
that position this year meant carrying on
a tradition I have always appreciated.
The event was a huge success this year
thanks in large part to the teamwork of
all members coming together over the
course of the year. We were also sup-
ported by our adviser Dr. Jeffrey Haus, the
college's Office of Religious and Spiritual
Life, and the Hillel Campus Alliance of
Michigan. @
