SYLVIA SCHWARTZ, 88, of West Bloomfield, died May 9, 2014. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Leo Korman of Schwartz California; son and c. 1968 daughter-in-law, Paul and Sandy Schwartz of West Bloomfield; grandchildren, Julie and Kevin Pennell, Amy and Dan Farsht, Erin and Randy Klepaski, Nicholas and Naomi Schwartz, and Jordan and Katy Schwartz; great- grandchildren, Shaun and Katelyn Pennell, Ari and Jonah Farsht, Noah, Zachary and Maya Klepaski, Nigel Fisher, Emma and Levi Schwartz, and Ashton Schwartz; brother and sister-in- law, Jerry and Roz Rothman; brother-in- law, Gene Goldstein. Mrs. Schwartz was the beloved wife of the late Leon Schwartz for 68 years; the loving sister of the late Shirley Troyan; the dear sister-in-law of the late Eleanor Goldstein. Arrangements by Ira Kaufman Chapel. DR. JOHN D. SEGALL, 67, died May 4, 2014. He was born in Detroit on Oct. 17, 1946, the son of Bernard E and Carol Thorner Segall Segall. He attended the University of Michigan, where he received both B.A. and M.D. degrees and where he met his wife of 39 years, Carole Flax Segall. He completed his internal medicine residency at St. Joseph Hospital in Denver, Colo., and his neu- rology residency at the University of Michigan Medical Center. He practiced neurology at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Ann Arbor, for 34 years, and he was loved and respected by patients, col- leagues and students. Dr. Segall received many honors and awards for his dedication to medical education throughout the years. He led a richly fulfilling life with love for his family, devotion to his patients and dedication to his work. He lived with great integrity as a husband, father and professional. He profoundly touched many lives and will be greatly missed by those who knew him and loved him. He is survived by his wife, Carole Flax Segall; his daughter, Lauren Segall; son, Bradley (Caroline) Segall, all of Ann Ask yourself. Is a tan really worth it?
