Pitcher's from page 29
baseball players from the States.
"Last year, I created a team
called the International Stars,
made up of players from all over
the globe, and we won the pres-
tigious Prague Baseball Week
Tournament," he said.
"This year, we are taking
groups to Prague and Austria
for two tournaments, and we are
doing a tour to Israel to compete
in the very first Israel Baseball
Summer Classic against the Israeli
National Baseball Team. The tour
is aimed at Jewish players ages
18 and older who want to have a
chance to play baseball in Israel
and also get some Israeli culture
and sightseeing as well:'
Ty Erickson, head coach of the
International Stars, has known
Justin since they both played for
the Netanya Tigers in the Israel
Baseball League.
"The two of us have been in
European baseball, and with the
growth of the game across the
continent, we saw an opportu-
nity to help players on both sides
of the Atlantic cross the seas
to accomplish their goals," said
Erickson, who lives in Munich,
Germany, and works in informa-
tion technology full time. "Over
last summer, things shaped up so
that we could combine our know-
how and build this project."
There's been no professional
baseball in Israel since that origi-
nal league folded in 2008, said
Prinstein, but there is an Israeli
national team competing in a
European championship qualifier
this year.
"They won a qualifier last year
with Brad Ausmus coaching," he
said. Ausmus, the current Detroit
Tiger's manager, previously man-
aged the Israeli national baseball
team from May to September,
2012. Israel lost to Spain in extra
innings in the Pool Finals, miss-
ing out on a spot in the World
Baseball Classic.
Limited to a group of 20, the
first Israel Baseball Summer
Classic will run June 18-25 with a
limit of 20 players. The $2,000 fee
includes hotel accommodations,
airport transfers in Tel Aviv,
group ground transportation,
most meals, Israeli National Parks
Green Card and tournament fees.
Not included are airfare, tour-
ist visas or entry fees. For more
