T

he 32nd annual B'nai B'rith
Golf Classic is getting a make-
over.
It's moving to Tam-O-Shanter
Country Club in West Bloomfield
and returning to its traditional first
Monday in June date (June 2).
The classic was held later in June a
few years ago so it wouldn't conflict
with the Hank Greenberg Memorial
Golf Invitational and it wasn't able
to get back to its preferred date at its
former site.
"This is an important event for us,
the biggest job we have all year, and we
want to do it right — the first Monday
in June is our magic date said Bobbie
Levine, program director for the B'nai
B'rith Great Lakes Region.
Proceeds from the classic benefit
B'nai B'rith programs, the B'nai B'rith
Youth Organization, Hillel chapters on
college campuses and new this year,
the region's scholarship fund.
The first four scholarship winners
will be honored at the classic awards
banquet.
Scholarship committee member
Rick Sherline said more than $8,000 in
scholarships will be presented to area
high school seniors.
"We're off to a great start:' he said.
The scholarship program was
launched not only to help students
financially, but also to encourage them
to serve as leaders in their communi-
ties and be ambassadors for the pro-
gram after college graduation.
Another big change for the classic
involves the vacation raffle.
Instead of a cruise, the prize is a trip
to Las Vegas that includes airfare for
two, a three-night stay for two at the
Venetian Hotel and two tickets to the
main show in the Venetian Room.
The trip is valued at $3,000. Five-
hundred tickets (at $25) are available.
The drawing for the winner will be
held during the classic awards ban-
quet. The winner does not have to be
present.
The classic golfer's package ($250)
includes 18 holes with cart, compli-
mentary range balls, locker room
facilities, continental breakfast, lunch
on the course, snacks, cocktails and
the awards banquet.
An early bird price ($195) is offered
through May 19.
There's also a hole-in-one contest
and live and silent auctions featuring
sports memorabilia. Radio personality
Alan "Big Al" Muskovitz will be the

banquet emcee.
David Lubin and Michael Fishman
are the co-chairs of the classic com-
mittee. Lubin also is on the scholar-
ship committee along with Region
President Stuart Novick, Sid Roth,
Steve Zorn and Sherline.
For classic reservations, raffle tick-
ets and information on sponsorship
opportunities, call Levine at (248)
646-3100.

'Suite' Deal

Organizers of the 24th annual Hank
Greenberg Memorial Golf Invitational
have released the contents of live auc-
tion items in an effort to attract bids
from people who can't attend the June
9 event at Franklin Hills Country Club
in Farmington Hills.
Here are the items:
• Watch a 2014 Detroit Tigers game
in CEO and General Manager David
Dombrowski's 18-person suite at
Comerica Park. Three parking passes
are included. Does not include food.
• Throw out the first pitch at a 2014
Tigers game at Comerica Park and
watch batting practice on the field.
Tour the press box and club offices
with Jerry Lewis, the Tigers' fantasy
camp director. Two game tickets and
parking are included.
• Take a behind-the-scenes tour of
the National Baseball Hall of Fame and
Museum archives in Cooperstown,
N.Y. Open to four people.
• A jersey autographed by former
33-year major league manager Tony La
Russa, who will receive the Greenberg
Lifetime Achievement Award at the
invitational banquet. La Russa will be
inducted into the Hall of Fame on July
27.
In other invitational news: a special
morning golf package of $450 is being
offered ($275 for young adults up to
age 35).
And only a few of the 200 tickets
remain in a 2015 Masters golf tourna-
ment raffle. The package, valued at
$5,000, includes two tickets for the
Friday, Saturday or Sunday round.
Transportation is not included.
The invitational is presented by the
Michigan Jewish Sports Foundation
and raises money for cancer research
and treatment and children's charities.

raffle tickets, golf and dinner reserva-
tions and sponsorship opportunities,

tor David Blatt at (248) 592-9323 or
