metro >> Out To Eat Punch Bowl Social To Anchor The Z Nationally acclaimed gastro diner, bar and entertainment venue Punch Bowl Social will open a new location in Downtown Detroit this fall at 1331 Broadway Street, between Grand River and Gratiot Avenues, in the newly constructed "The Z:' Punch Bowl Social will serve as The Z's anchor tenant and will occupy the development's full retail frontage along Broadway Avenue. The enter- tainment hotspot is expected to open in November of this year and will create 150 new jobs in the city. Punch Bowl Social serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. The menu offers made-from-scratch, upscale comfort food, artisan punches, craft cocktails mixed with homemade syrups, juice extracts and bitters, and craft beers. Guests will also enjoy bowling, pingpong, shuffleboard, darts, pinball, foosball, pool, board games, retro video games and private ka- raoke rooms. Weekend programming will include live DJs on Friday and Saturday nights, as well as Sunday brunch. Sweet Lorraine's In Midtown Sweet Lorraine's Fabulous Mac n' Cheez! will open a new location on the site of the former Marwil Bookstore, on the southeast corner of Cass and Warren avenues, across from Wayne State Uni- versity's historic Old Main building. With plans to open the new location in August, this "fast casual" restaurant company also announced that they will be hiring approximately 20 employees this sum- mer in Midtown Detroit. "We are excited to be adding a new location in the bustling Midtown area to serve customers who are looking for fun, high-quality food for dine-in or on the go:' said co-founder Gary Suss- man. Sweet Lorraine's Fabulous Mac n Cheez! will offer vegetarian, vegan and organic soups, salads, sandwich wraps, grilled cheese and 14 different kinds of vegetarian and meat-topped macaroni and cheese, all made-fresh-to-order. New Kind Of Donut Experience The first Michigan location for Fractured Prune Doughnuts — which has a cult following for offering consumers always hot doughnuts, hand-dipped and topped to order — will open in Canton on Tuesday, May 6. The brightly colored doughnut shop cel- ebrates the individual and encourages con- sumers to find their "inner doughnut genius" by choosing from 19 different glazes and 14 different toppings. To help consumers get started, Fractured Prune Doughnuts has a specialty doughnut menu with creations not available at a tradi- tional chain doughnut shop, including French Toast (maple, cinnamon and sugar), Blueberry Hill (blueberry glaze and powdered sugar) and Morning Buzz (mocha, chocolate cookie crumbles) to name a few. New Corktown Restaurant To Keep Pawn Shop Aura A former pawn shop with "Gold Cash Gold" emblazoned across its exterior on Michigan Avenue in Corktown, Detroit, will change late this summer or early in the fall when Gold Cash Gold restaurant opens. No word on the menu yet, but the cuisine will be derived of fresh, lo- cally sourced products at affordable price points, according to developer Ryan Cooley, who is rehabbing the two floors above Gold Cash Gold, where six apartment units will open in June.
