Celebrating with Cooper Jake are his proud parents, Dana and Jason Cooper, his brother Noah, grandparents Diane and Herb Morrison, and Lorry and Jerry Cooper, and great-grandfather Myer "Mike" Beresh. Jake is a seventh-grade student at Norup International School in Oak Park. For his mitzvah project, Jake, an avid ice hockey player, helped raise money to support United Cerebral Palsy of Detroit and its annual fundraiser "Skate without Limits." Jacob Ellington Gourwitz, together with his parents, Elizabeth Tupling and Howard Gourwitz, will cele- brate his bar mitz- vah on Friday, April Gourwitz 25, at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield. He is the grandchild of Kenneth Tupling of Bradford, Ontario, Canada, the late Bernard Gourwitz, the late Janet Gourwitz Blondy and the late Jacqueline Tupling. Jacob attends Cranbrook Boys Middle School in Bloomfield Hills. Pro- ceeds from his mitzvah project fund- ed the purchase of smoke detectors, which were thoughtfully donated to Detroit residents in an effort to pre- vent injuries and loss due to house fires.
