Reasons To Celebrate
Today, the Frankel Center boasts
30 faculty members, 77 active
courses and an average of 1,325
students annually. Its particular
areas of strength include modern
Jewish literature, Eastern European
Jewish studies, Yiddish studies and
American Jewish studies.
"Without ques-
tion, the most
significant change
in Judaic studies
in the last quarter
century has been
the growth in the
number of faculty
associated with
Todd
the Frankel Center
Endelman
and the number
of graduate stu-
dents who have come here to study
with them!' said Todd Endelman,
William Haber Professor Emeritus
of Modern Jewish History. "The
growth of the faculty has made pos-
sible programs and projects that
were unthinkable when we created
the Frankel Center."
The center also offers lectures
and educational events open to the
public. Frankel faculty members
hosted a Jewish book fair event at
the Jewish Community Center in
West Bloomfield, where they spoke
about their recently published
books. Meanwhile, plans are under-
way for a Detroit lecture series with
Frankel Institute fellows on the
theme of "Jews and Empire!'
"These events and more said
Dash Moore, "signal the commit-
ment of the Frankel Center to offer
stimulating intellectual public pro-
grams to both the Metro Detroit
and Ann Arbor communities:'

The Frankel Center's 25th
anniversary event, "Maize 'n Jews:
Celebrating the Jewish Experience
at Michigan," will be held April
