can Chatzky, nationally
prominent financial colum-
nist and award-winning
author on money management, will
be in Southfield Wednesday, May 7, at
Congregation Shaarey Zedek (CSZ) as
the luncheon speaker for the annual
Lois Linden Nelson Woman's World
fundraiser.
"We're very pleased to have someone
of Ms. Chatzky's stature for our annual
event:' said Candy Cuttner, co-chair
of the annual event presented by the
CSZ Sisterhood. "It's generated a lot of
excitement among our members and
friends in the community" The other
co-chair is Cookie Lachover.
Each year, the sisterhood brings in
a luncheon speaker as part of a day of
shopping boutiques that are open free
to the public from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., with
a portion of all sales going to the syna-
gogue fundraiser. Luncheon tickets
start at $54. The speaker-only price is
$36. Tickets can be purchased online
at www.11nwomansworld.org .
"It's a wonderful
opportunity to talk
about simplifying the
myths we have about
money:' Chatzky said.
"Money is simple;
people make it com-
plicated. With the
help of my 'money
Jean Chatzky
rules: people can use
proven tactics to enhance their financial
health immediately"
Chatzky, financial editor for NBC's
Today show, is an award-winning per-
sonal finance journalist, AARP's per-
sonal finance ambassador, a columnist
for the New York Daily News and More
magazine, and a contributing editor
for Fortune magazine.
Her eighth and most recent book
is Money Rules: The Simple Path to
Lifelong Security. She believes knowing
how to manage our money is one of the
most important life skills for people at

every age and has made it her mission to
help simplify money matters, increasing
financial literacy now and for the future.
In April 2013, Chatzky launched
Jean Chatzky's Money School, a series
of college-style, interactive online per-
sonal finance courses that give men and
women across the country the opportu-
nity to learn from and interact directly
with her.
A native Detroiter, Chatzky plans to
connect with friends and family while in
town.
Another annual tradition is recogniz-
ing a woman of distinction for significant
community service. This year's "Woman
of Valor" is Florine Mark, president/CEO
of The WW Group Inc.
"I'm honored to
be considered for the
Woman of Valor and
to be a part of this
amazing event:' Mark
said. "Shaarey Zedek
raises funds for so
many good causes,
Florine Mark
and this event is such
an important tradi-
tion:'
Mark is also president of the Jewish
Community Center of Metropolitan
Detroit and was recently re-appointed
to the Michigan Governor's Council
on Physical Fitness, Health and Sports.
She is an activist and leader on many of
Detroit's most influential boards, includ-
ing the Jewish Federation, the United
Jewish Foundation of Metropolitan
Detroit and the Jewish Women's
Foundation.
The event once again features the
"Over the Top" raffle with a variety of
high-end prizes including gift cards, din-
ing experiences and the grand prize — a
piece of antique jewelry from MB Jewelry
Design. The raffle features donations
worth $100 and more. Last year's gifts
were worth more than $30,000. Tickets
are $10 or three for $25. You need not be
present to win.

Yahrzeit Reminders And
Online Memorial Wall
Jewish National Fund (JNF) recently
launched new online services to
memorialize loved ones and preserve
family memories. In partnership
with National Jewish Memorial Wall
(www.NJMW.org ), JNF has cre-
ated easy to use online applications
enabling adherence to the traditional
ritual of remembering a loved one's

passing by receiving a free yahrzeit
reminder. National Jewish Memorial
Wall also offers an affordable option of
a plaque on an online Memorial Wall.
At www.jnf. org, visitors will receive
a complimentary Yahrzeit email
reminder for both the English and
Hebrew dates of passing. Donors can
choose to receive the reminder a few
days prior to the Yahrzeit, along with
a copy of the Mourner's Kaddish.
