She was born to Mandel and Dora Powers Hassal, on June 9, 1915, in Detroit. Henrietta was married to Theodore Powers, also a native Detroiter and an artist. Henrietta Powers, a role model for many friends and loved ones, was a one-of-a-kind person. She was known as a smart woman, with definite opin- ions about life, people and how the world should operate. She loved her husband and children dearly; she made many life-long friendships and felt tied to her entire family, including all relatives. An accomplished pianist and teacher, Henrietta was a graduate of Oberlin College and the only child in her family to have the opportunity to attend a four-year university. She loved music and supported her husband and children in their pursuit of creativ- ity, in all of the arts. She traveled the world with her family, had a great eye for modern art, was open-minded and extremely generous. She was a woman of integrity, fortitude and great kind- ness, and she will be deeply missed. Mrs. Powers is survived by her two children, Daniel Powers of Los Angeles, Calif., and Lisa Powers of Piermont, N.Y.; grandchildren, Stephanie, Michelle, Zachary and Samuel. She had four sisters and a brother, Zelda, Gertrude, Rose, Millie and Joe. Interment was at Machpelah Cemetery.
