The Detroit Field Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced that Betsy Kellman was named the recipient of the 2013 FBI Director's Community Leadership Award, which is presented annually by the FBI Director, James Comey, to a recipient in each of the FBI's 56 domestic field offices. Kellman was Dr. Scott A. Gruber, chief of staff of the Detroit VA Healthcare System, associate dean for veterans' affairs and professor of surgery at Wayne State University School of Medicine, was Gruber recently named presi- dent-elect of the Central Surgical Association (CSA), at its annual meeting. The U.S. Senate recently confirmed new U.S. district court judges for the Eastern District of Michigan. They are Matthew Frederick Leitman, Judith Ellen Levy and Laurie J. Michelson. Leitman is a principal at Miller Canfield law firm. Levy has been as assistant U.S. attorney since 2000. Michelson has been a federal magis- trate in Detroit since 2011. Gershel, along with Cooley student volunteers, received the Justice for All Award at the Criminal Defense Attorneys of Michigan's annual awards.
