metro Supporting IDF Young Detroit leader follows in his parents' footsteps. F or Daniel Kaufman of West Bloomfield, supporting the Friends of the IDF (FIDF) is personal. Daniel follows in the footsteps of his father, Alon Kaufman, chairman of the FIDF Michigan Region, and his mother, Shari Kaufman, vice president of the Michigan Region, in supporting the Israel Defense Forces soldiers by attend- ing the recent FIDF National Gala in New York. Also in attendance at the event were FIDF Michigan Chapter Young Leadership members Aaron Baum, Jonathan Kaufman, Alex Ferber, Jake Atchoo, James Katz and Daniel Capece. "The FIDF event is one that every year I look forward to attending. Being part of such a powerful group of people that have so much love and care for the State of Israel and its soldiers is truly inspir- ing:' said Daniel Kaufman. "Being that half my family is in Israel and I have family members currently in the IDF, I have a personal connection and know how important our support for them is. I look forward to continu- ing my role as a young leader within the Michigan community and always continuing to push the limits on what we can do to support these soldiers" Daniel joined more than 1,400 promi- nent business and philanthropic leaders from across the country at the his- toric Waldorf Astoria Hotel for the FIDF National NY Gala Dinner, which raised $20 million for programs to support Israeli soldiers. The funds raised will provide aca- demic scholarships to former combat soldiers, financial support for soldiers in need and Lone Soldier volunteers from around the world, weeks of rest and recreation for entire IDF units, as well as educational, cultural and recreational facilities. ❑ Bookstock Sale Opens April 27 B When you choose a primary care doctor you're also choosing Beaumont. ookstock will be held Sunday, April 27-Sunday, May 4, at Livonia's Laurel Park Place, with proceeds benefitting literacy and education projects in Metro Detroit.
