He was a decorated veteran of World War II and a graduate of the medical school at Wayne State University. He practiced psychoanalysis in the Detroit metropolitan area for more than 50 years and served on the board of gover- nors of the Wayne State University Medical School Alumni Association. He was an avid athlete who also loved poetry and Yiddishkeit. He is survived by his beloved wife, Florence, to whom he was devoted for 67 years; his four children: Andrew and his wife, Wes Brown, and their children, Samantha, Jacob and Zachary of Palo Alto, Calif.; Karen and her daughter, Natalie, of Chevy Chase, Md.; Judy and her husband, Alan Baumgarten, and their children, Nathan and Alexandra of Asheville, N.C.; Anne and her husband, Evan Cohen, and their children, Sarah, Laura and Dana of Barrington, R.I.
