Really Strange

T

he Guinness Book of World Records is quite well
known. We hear from time to time about discoveries
that seem strange but true. We do not usually give
much thought to the creativity of those who seek to create or
break existing records.
In the interest of bringing to my readers every
possible source of the educational, here are some
examples of records that have been set.
The largest chocolate sculpture was done as a
tribute to the Mayan civilization. Done by Qzina
Specialty Foods, it is a temple that weighs 18,239
pounds. Talk about getting a sugar high ...
From one extreme to the other, let me draw your
attention to the world's smallest theater. It is located
in Villach, Austria, and can hold eight guests. It was
not clear exactly what kind of presentation can be
seen there but there is no question about being too
close to the screen.
When it comes to collections, there is a woman
in Germany who has the largest collection of
clown-related items. She has 2,053 of them. For those who find
clowns scary, do not even think of viewing this.
In Maine, there is a man who has 1,509 different clocks on

JN CONTENTS

his walls. There was no mention if they chime all at the same
time. That could make anyone cuckoo.
Apparently in October there is a World Egg Day. To mark it,
50 cooks and chefs in Turkey once whisked 110,010 eggs into
a giant fry pan for the world's largest omelette. Take
that, you cholesterol lovers!
A Scotland-based diamond and jewelry chain
teamed with Cupcake Glasgow to create a small cup-
cake sprinkled with tens of sparkling diamonds. Now
that would be a Sweetest Day gift to remember.
Brian Berg, an American card-stacking master, has
beaten his own record by completing a model of the
Venetian Macao Hotel and Casino made of playing
cards. He used a total of 218,792 and the model is 35
feet long and 10 feet tall.
In 2009, the world's largest flag was unfurled over
Teddy Football Stadium in Jerusalem. It features the
largest emblem of a lion ever seen. The flag measured
44,404 square meters and weighed 9.5 tons. It took six
people 120 days to create it at a cost of $120,000.
Other than showing some really strange things out there to
be seen, the above examples prove that a lot of people have far
too much time on their hands.
