Adelman will leave
BBYO to head Kadima.

Bessie Spector

E

ric Adelman has been
appointed as the new execu-
tive director of Kadima,
which provides psychological ser-
vices, residential options, supported
employment and social activities for
individuals and their families affected
by psychiatric disabilities. Kadima also
provides public education and advo-
cacy to enhance the quality of life for
clients and families.
Adelman, 35,
begins the job Feb.
25. He takes over
from interim direc-
tor Judy Shewach,
Kadima's adminis-
trative director, who
has served in that
Eric Adelman
role since Janette
Shallal, longtime
executive director, retired.
"I am incredibly excited by this
opportunity to work with such an
important and mission-driven organi-
zation like Kadima," Adelman said. "I
look forward to getting to know the
staff, the board and — most impor-
tantly — the people served by Kadima
and to working collaboratively to
provide high-quality services to people
with mental illness:'
Dan Serlin, a local attorney and
the chair of Kadima's board and its
Executive Search Committee, added,
"I'm thrilled that Eric will be joining
the Kadima team. He will bring an
energy and enthusiasm to Kadima as
well as business acumen that I'm con-
fident will allow him to help Kadima
continue to provide outstanding ser-
vices to our clients and families and
bring our organization to an unprec-
edented level of effectiveness:'
Adelman most recently served as
director of BBYO Michigan Region,
an international Jewish teen move-
ment. During his six-year tenure,
he was responsible for doubling the
number of teens involved in BBYO and
more than tripling fundraising revenue
while providing a more meaningful
programmatic experience.
Prior to BBYO, Adelman worked
in development at JARC and govern-
ment relations at the local Jewish
Community Relations Council.
"I am excited to use the skills and
experiences I've learned in organiza-
tional management, strategic visioning
and planning, development and more,"
he said.
A nearly lifelong resident of Metro
Detroit, Adelman lives in Farmington
Hills with his wife and two children.
