'House Hunters' Aids
Birmingham Couple
On a whim, Samantha Sher applied
online to enlist help from the HGTV
series House Hunters in finding a home
in Birmingham that would fit her and
her fiance, Michael Foon. After an
audition process, they were chosen to
be on the show. The episode airs at 10
p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, on HGTV.
The assignment was challenging

SKBK Sotheby's International Realty.

S of Drachler is a great leader in
the Detroit Jewish Community.
His work with the Jewish
Welfare Federation between 1956 and
1982 is legendary.
Drachler grew up in Detroit and is a
Navy veteran and an alumnus of Wayne
State University. He began his com-
munity involvement as the supervisor
of the Jewish Parents' Institute of the
Jewish Community Center. In 1956,
he was named the secretary of the
Education Division of the Jewish Welfare
Federation, beginning a quarter-century
of service with the Federation.

Drachler's position in the Federation
rose steadily throughout his career,
including serving as secretary of various
divisions and committees, and director of
divisions in the Allied Jewish Campaign.
He was named Federation assistant direc-
tor in 1964, campaign director in 1970,
Federation associate director in 1975
and executive director in 1976. Under
his leadership, the Federation expanded
its social service programs and achieved
new fundraising records. The accompa-
nying photograph shows Drachler at a
Federation event honoring him upon his
retirement in 1982.
