Jewish War Vets Go To Battle Creek
On Christmas Day, the Jewish War Veterans and Ladies Auxiliary of Michigan
took part in their 68th consecutive Christmas visit to the Battle Creek VA
Medical Center. During the visit, the JWV volunteers visited with more than
200 patients, played Bingo and provided clothing, healthy snacks and sundry

Linda and Dr. Rick Cohen were honored at the Development Corporation for
Israel/Israel Bonds and Congregation Shaarey Zedek annual tribute event on
Dec. 8.
They were presented with the Tree of Life Award in recognition of outstand-
ing leadership in support of the economic strength and security of the State of
Israel and their dedication and commitment to Shaarey Zedek in Southfield.
Distinguished guest speaker was Roey Gilad, consul general of Israel to the
Midwest. The tribute event resulted in more than $3 million dollars in Israel

With Local Friends
A Detroit Jewish heritage tour of
Warsaw, Krakow, Budapest and Prague
is planned for May 4-15, and is open
to the Detroit community and friends.
In conjunction with the Hadassah-
Greater Detroit Chapter and coordinat-
ed by Annette Meskin, former national
missions chair of Hadassah who has
led more than 25 trips to Israel and
Poland, the trip will include meetings
with Jewish community leaders in
Warsaw and Krakow; historic areas of
all countries, including major Jewish
sites; a visit to Aushwitz-Birkenau and
Terezin concentration camps; Shabbat
at Dohany Synagogue in Budapest; a
cruise of Vltava River; and walks in
the streets of the old Jewish quarters
and historic areas of these Eastern
European cities. An add-on visit to
Vienna is available.
The land-only cost is $2,799. Group
airfare from Detroit is available. Space
