dancer with some of the world's top
dance troupes, and her father was a
musician.
"I remember begging my mother
to let me go to ballet lessons:'
Barrington says. She's been danc-

Fish (ages 52 and 55, respectively)
won the top amateur category, and
Doug also won in the top new-
comer category. The pair climbed
Mount Kilimanjaro two years ago,
and thought Mount Everest would
be their next big adventure. But
they insist the challenge of their
life has not been climbing the
world's highest peaks. It's ballroom
dancing.

training for a national ballroom
dancing competition proved more
challenging, physically, mentally
and emotionally than climbing
mountains, the Fishes say.
On the mountain, says Doug, you
"put one foot in front of the other.
When we dance, we have to work
together, learn how to create space
rather than push each around. It's
a great metaphor for our relation-
ship, which has been enhanced
and grown stronger through our
dancing:'
