being a CIA graduate, Jeremy

The time came when Jeremy and Paula
put their heads together and made a
deliberate decision to keep things small
and accessible ... They spent several
months researching contemporary cafes
in Chicago, Toronto, New York and San
Francisco ... noting the distinct trends in
many of the preferred modern venues of
these cosmopolitan cities toward offering
concise, but exquisite menus.
The end result of a husband and wife
striving for restaurant success is written in
the 10-year anniversary being celebrated by
Jeremy Restaurant & Bar ... What Jeremy
and Paula have achieved is handily written
in the realization of a quality dining experi-
ence.
QUESTION & ANSWER DEPT....
"Please settle a bet for me and wife, Cecile.
She says that Al Rosenberg owned a res-
taurant and did kosher catering at the
same time. I said that he never did one
while doing the other. Who wins?" ...

[To my recollection, and it might be
a little flimsy on this, Herman, Al had
Rosenberg's Kosher Catering with his
mother, Sylvia. He left the kosher catering
field to open Albert's of Birmingham Beef
Buffet and also did some catering there,
but it wasn't kosher. As I recall, when Al
closed the beef buffet, he went back to
kosher catering at Congregation B'nai
David and then Adat Shalom Synagogue.
When his mother passed on, Al took over
by himself. After his passing, Al's wife,
Sarah, and son, Jeffrey, did a great job in
carrying on his excellent kosher catering
operation at Adat Shalom.]

OLDIE BUT GOODIE DEPT. ... A
Jewish boy comes home to his mother and
tells her he has met a wonderful girl and
they are to be married.
"Oh, that's nice says momma. "And
what is this girl's name?"
The son tells her that his fiancee is
a Native American and is called Little
Running Deer.
"That's nice, honey:' says momma, try-
ing to keep a straight face.
The son then tells the momma that he
wants to be called by his "new" Native
American name, too, and that from now on
she should call him "Swift Flying Arrow."
"OK, honey, whatever you wish:' says
momma.
Then the son says, "You should get a
Native American name, too, Momma."
"I've already got one replies momma.
"It's Big Sitting Shivah."
