BERNICE EMMER
BERGER, 92, of
Vernon Hills, Ill.,
died Nov. 29, 2013.
She is survived
by her sons and
daughters-in-law,
Bob and Jan Emmer
Berger
of Farmington Hills,
Eric and Cheryl Emmer; daughter,
Wendy Dorf; brother, Sherwin Vine;
grandchildren, Jeffrey (Kim) Emmer,
Brian (Alyson) Emmer, Noell (Bleu)
Vaughan, Ryan (Cassie) Emmer,
Brittany Dorf, Courtney Dorf.
She was the loving GiGi of Noah,
Addison, Avery, Liam and Mia. She
is also remembered by many loving
family members and friends.
Mrs. Berger was the beloved wife
of the late Herman Emmer and the
late Joseph Berger; sister of the late
Milton (the late Muriel) Vine; moth-
er-in-law of the late Bradley Dorf.

MARY DEVORE, 91, passed away
Oct. 28, 2013, in Carson City, Nev.,
after a brief illness.
She was born in Columbus, Ohio,
on Sept. 1, 1922, the youngest of five
siblings. During World War II, she
worked for the state of Ohio's auditor
and volunteered at the USO, where
she met and later married Robert,
her husband of 66 years. She was a
thoughtful mother with a keen sense
of humor and was a voracious reader.
Besides her husband, Mrs. DeVore
is survived by her sons, Robert of San
Diego, Calif.; Mark (Carol Gordon)
of West Bloomfield, David (Crista) of
Upper Arlington, Ohio; her devoted
daughter, Victoria (Jeff Rice) of San
Francisco, Calif.; 11 grandchildren.
Contributions may be made to a
charity of one's choice.

CAROL ANN
DORFMAN, 62, of
Coconut Grove, Fla.,
formerly of
Bloomfield Hills,
died Nov. 24, 2013.
She was a lawyer
and certified profes-
sional coach.
Mrs. Dorfman is
survived by her sons, Noah Dorfman
of Ferndale and Jordan Dorfman,
also of Ferndale; mother, Eleanor
Park; brothers, Dennis Park and Dr.
Sam Park; sister-in-law, Esther Park;
nieces, nephews, cousins and a world
of friends.
She was the devoted daughter of
the late Harry Park; the loving sister

of the late Lawrence Park.
Interment was at Clover Hill Park
Cemetery. Contributions may be

Israel Memorial Gardens in Novi.

SAM LERMAN, 79,
of West Bloomfield,
died Dec. 1, 2013.
He was the owner
of Ben & George's
Deli in Livonia for
30 years.
Mr. Lerman is
Lerman
survived by his wife
of 57 years, Gloria Lerman; daughter,
Cheryl Lerman; son, David Lerman;
grandchildren, Sean and Jamie
Strasberger, and Seth Strasberger.
He was the cherished father of
the late Denise Lerman; the loving
brother of the late Hanna Tkatch, the
late Sara Tkatch and the late Aaron
Tkatch; the devoted son of the late
Chaim and the late Deverah Lerman.
Interment was at Adat Shalom
Memorial Park. Contributions may
be made to Jewish Federation of
Metropolitan Detroit, 6735 Telegraph
