CELIA & VICTOR CYNAMON HOLOCAUST MUSEUM NEWS Victor Cynamon, Chairman Recently I have had the pleasure of encountering generosity, compassion and empathy in one man named Scott Scharg. Scott exemplifies what it means to be a mensch. After hearing Holocaust survivors speak, and learning of the horrors they endured, he decided to take action. He has donated a substantial amount of money to our shul in honor our survivors. Clearly, people like Scott are rare, and we are so fortunate to count him as a member of our temple community. He tells me that he is proud of the many accomplishments we have made at ATJC and knows there are more to come. Indeed. There are more to come. Sadly, the greatest enemy of the Holocaust survivors is time. There is simply not enough time to educate the world or even our own community about the Holocaust. There are Holocaust related projects that demand our attention and we worry that we will not have the time to tend to them. Every time I see an empty seat in the sanctuary where a Holocaust survivor previously sat, I am reminded of how much is lost forever. So let us enjoy the company of one another and let us be proud of members like Scott. Scott will be hosting a luncheon for all survivors when Professor Allen Dershowitz comes to speak. All survivors will be the guests of Scott and survivors will be honored. All you have to do is make your reservation early. It promises to be a glorious afternoon, so please join us. Be proud of what we have accomplished and what we will accomplish. If you have not had the pleasure of meeting Scott, please do so at the luncheon, you will no doubt be as impressed as I have been. This is a man who exudes sensitivity to Holocaust survivors. Scott makes me proud to be a member of ATJC.
