Arrangements by Ira Kaufman Chapel. LOUIS M. WEISS, 72, formerly of Detroit, died on Nov. 18, 2013, at his home in Nathrop, Colo., from pancreatic cancer. He graduated from Mumford High School in 1958, from Michigan Weiss State University in 1962 with an accounting degree and from Wayne State Law School in 1969. He prac- ticed law in Michigan at both Highland Park Legal Aid and Washtenaw County Legal Aid from 1971-72 and was a tax pre- parer in San Francisco prior to moving to Colorado in 1972. He lived in Telluride for 22 years and Nathrop for nearly 20 years. Mr. Weiss continued to be a tax preparer during tax season the entire time he lived in Colorado and also worked as a waiter, bartender and carpenter, thereby allowing himself to do those things he most loved. He was an avid outdoorsman, climbing, hiking and biking in the glorious Colorado mountains; and he swam nearly every day for 19 years at the Mount Princeton Hot Springs near his home. At the time of his passing, he was under the care of Living Waters Hospice of Buena Vista. A short memorial service and celebration of his life, on a date yet to be selected, will be held in Telluride, where his ashes will be scattered at several of his favorite places. Mr. Weiss is survived by his brother, Michael of Berkeley, Calif.; numerous niec- es, nephews, grandnieces and grandneph- ews and cousins in the greater Detroit area. LOUIS ZALK, 93, of Oak Park, died Nov. 19, 2013. He is survived by his daughters and son-in- law, Barbara and Robert Levitt of Oak Park, and Cheryl Zalk of Wixom; grandchildren, Rabbi Zalk Jennifer Frenkel, Dayna Frenkel, Rachel Leggett and Joshua Leggett. Mr. Zalk was the beloved husband of the late Evelyn Zalk; the cherished brother of the late Gertrude Trager, the late Dorothy Goldstein and the late Marian Goldman.
