Comedian To Headline Adat Shalom SYNergy Adat Shalom Synagogue in Farmington Hills continues its 2013-2014 SYNergy Shabbat series Dec. 6-7 with comedian Yisrael Campbell. Formerly known as Christopher Campbell, his New York production of Circumcize Me has been called "a perfect blend of genuine sentiment and hilarious one- liners:' Campbell's spiritual Yisrael journey stretches across Campbell four decades, two continents and three "circumcisions:' He converted to Judaism with a Reform rabbi and says that a "spiri- tual hunger" led him to have a second conversion with a Conservative rabbi. On a four-month visit to Israel in 2000, he decided to have a third conversion and become an Orthodox Jew. Campbell and his wife Avital, a Talmud teacher, have four children and live in Jerusalem. Campbell can be seen in two perfor- mances: on Friday evening for families with older children and on Saturday eve- ning for adults only. Friday evening programming will begin at 5 p.m. with a Shabbat Apella service. Shabbat Shaboom, a musical Shabbat experience for young families, with Rabbi Rachel Shere and Lisa Sobel Siegmann will start at 5:30 p.m. Shabbat dinner will follow, after which Yisrael Campbell will present his family-friendly version of Circumcize Me at 7:45 p.m. Childcare will begin at 7:15 p.m. and extend until the end of the adult program. His topic is "Negotiations with the Palestinians and Iran, a Path to Peace or War?" Klein will speak about current negotia- tions between Israel and the Palestinians at this crucial point in Middle East policy-making and in light of a U.S. deal with Iran regarding its nuclear program. He will discuss the United States' role Morton Klein as a mediator in the Israeli-Palestinian peace process and whether a permanent pact should be put into place while Israel is openly considering an attack on Iran's nuclear facilities.
