jewish@edu for college students by college students Month Of Thanksgiving Hillel at EMU works hard to aid others at the holidays. Danielle Friedman and Sydney Glass } jewish@edu writers his November, Hillel at Eastern Michigan University is taking part in a variety of service projects in both the Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor communities. Reaching out to the surrounding areas and offering support through projects and fund- raising, our goal is to not only bring Jewish life to campus, but also to be a voice of support in our community during the holiday season. Our Chanukah drive will kick off our month of giving, allowing us to help a local Jewish family in need, by providing them with a stress-free holiday season. We will be selling hamsa bracelets on a daily basis in the EMU Campus Student Center to help raise funds for this cause, and we are excited to reach out to our peers, family and friends to help make a difference during this special time of the year. Additionally, on Friday, Nov. 22, Hillel at EMU held a charity Shabbat dinner where we hand crafted blankets to donate to the Shelter Association of Washtenaw County. It recently came to our attention that there is a T blanket shortage within the rotating shelter, and we felt this would be a wonderful way to give back to our local community. Our charity Shabbat dinner will feature student speakers who volunteer with the Shelter Association, and we are reaching out to other organizations to ask for their participation in this philanthropic effort. Our charity Shabbat dinner is free and open to all EMU students. As students, we often turn to our com- munity to provide us with resources and assistance, and we are hopeful that our efforts will leave a positive impact on our local community.
