than 6 million Jews in Israel. I never
would have dreamed of it, praise God,"

Federations Organize
Help For Philippines
The Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA)
are mobilizing a communal response to the super
Typhoon Haiyan, which has wrought widespread
destruction in the Philippines.
JFNA has opened a mailbox for Federations to
support relief efforts by the American Jewish Joint
Distribution Committee, which is raising funds for
relief efforts.
The American Jewish Joint Distribution
Committee is consulting with local officials, the
Filipino Jewish community and global partners to
assess the evolving situation on the ground in the
Philippines, where one of the strongest storms on
record has wrought widespread destruction. To

The American Jewish World Service (AJWS), a
Jewish international development and human rights
organization, is collecting funds to provide aid on the

An Israel Defense Forces delegation departed
on a humanitarian mission to the Philippines on
Nov. 13 to provide aid to the storm-ravaged city of
Tacloban, the army said.
The 148-member group, comprising national
search-and-rescue unit officials and senior doctors
in the IDF medical corps, set up a "multi-depart-
ment medical facility" to provide medical care for
casualties of the disaster in Tacloban.
