and saved many lives.
Kudos to Contributing Editor Robert
Sklar ("Emergency Response Oct. 24) for
showcasing these exceptional young adults
and featuring the firsthand experiences of
Daniel and Matthew Gold of Bloomfield
Hills.
More than 80 percent of Magen David
Adom's team is comprised of volunteers as
MDA is not a government agency. MDA
must train these card-carrying volunteers
and relies on donors worldwide to ensure
they are fully prepared to provide MD/Vs
world-class emergency medical care. Your
support of Magen David Adom positively
impacts the lives of all Israelis and helps
save lives.
Yasher koach to these young adults and
to our wonderful supporters throughout
the state of Michigan.

Anti-Israel Film
Raises Red Flags
I was in attendance at a screening of the
Sabeel-promoted film The Stones Cry
Out at the First Presbyterian Church in
Birmingham late last month. Friends of
Sabeel North America (FOSNA) is rated
among the Anti-Defamation League's top
10 anti-Semitic groups.
Filmmaker Yasmin Perni's film, The
Stones Cry Out, presents the story of
the forgotten Christian "Palestinians,"
using the technique of cherry picking to
manipulate sympathetic feelings for this
particular group of Middle Easterners.
Cherry picking is a term that applies

His talks, inter-

Nov. 21, at the Sara &

Wolf
Chabad Torah Center,
5595 Maple Road,
West Bloomfield. A chicken dinner will
be served at 7 p.m., followed by Wolf's
presentation at 8 p.m. Cost for the pro-
gram is $18; for the lecture only, $10.
The meditation-oriented training
program, sourced in contemporary posi-
to someone who purposefully ignores
all contradicting information in order
to prove a point or promote a theory or
position on a topic. Perni contends that
her story of a "Palestinian" Christian
Nakba, which places all blame on an
Israeli, land-grabbing government, must
be told without any other relevant infor-
mation. When asked why she wasn't pre-
senting the plight of the Syrian, Egyptian,
Iraqi, Lebanese, Libyan and Iranian
Christians as well, she claimed that
although those stories were also impor-
tant, her story was just about the one
group and the other Christians' stories
were too complicated.
Arab Christians living under the
Palestine Authority and in the Gaza Strip
are indeed in a precarious position, as
are all Christians in the Middle East and
North Africa. Yet Perni's notion that jus-
tice for "Palestinian" Christians will only
result from the end of Israel as a Jewish
state requires one to ignore the reality of
the perilous conditions for Christians in
the rest of the region.
At the church screening, promoters
of the film also provided a literature
table promoting anti-Israel materials.
Representative of the offerings was a
publication titled Kairos Palestine — A
Moment of Truth. According to the ADL,
"Kairos is a prime example of an effort
to undercut the legitimacy of Israel as
a Jewish state. It calls terror a form of
legal resistance, it endorses boycotts and
divestment against Israel, and it denies
any connection between biblical cov-
enants and the Jewish people:'

Muslim-Jewish
Twinning Weekend
Feeding the hungry is a Jewish value
and a definite human need today.
Also, every year the community par-
ticipates in the annual Muslim-Jewish
Twinning Weekend, initiated by the
Foundation for Ethnic Understanding.
On Sunday, Nov. 17, Jews and
Muslims will gather together to help
feed the needy at the Muslim Center of
Detroit, 1605 W. Davison. Cooking will
begin at 10 a.m.; the meal will be served
at 1 p.m. All are welcome to participate.
If you would also like to donate food
items for cooking or eating (remember
they must be hallal/kosher) or to help
with monetary donations, contact Rabbi
Dorit Edut at mutzim@aol.com or Anna
at the Isaac Agree Downtown Synagogue
at (313) 962-4047.
