Nathan Malter, Carley Curtis, Andrew
Curtis; many loving nieces, nephews, cous-
ins, other family members and friends.
Mr. Malter was the brother of the late
Henry (late Helen) Malter; father-in-law of
the late Ron Curtis.
Contributions may be made to a charity
of one's choice. Interment took place at the
Adat Shalom Memorial Park Cemetery in
Livonia. Arrangements by Dorfman Chapel.

HARRIET SANDWEISS,

82, a lifelong Detroiter,
died on Oct. 28, 2013, fol-
lowing a long illness.
She was a graduate
of Central High School
(1949) and married
Seymour Sandweiss in
Sandweiss
1959.
Harriet worked as an insurance under-
writer and later as an office manager in her
husband's CPA office. She was a devoted
mother, grandmother and great-grand-
mother and was active in many Jewish
and communal organizations, along with
her children's school activities. In 1998,
she, along with her husband, received
the Hakoras Hatov Award from Yeshivas

Darchei Torah.
Mrs. Sandweiss is survived by her
husband, Seymour; her children, Stuart
(Valerie), and Rhonda (Jason) Savine;
grandchildren, Yosef Sandweiss, Shoshana
(David) Beitner, Rivka, Rena and Ari
Sandweiss, and Evan Savine; great-
grandchildren, Yaakov Moshe and Esther
Nechama Beitner; sister-in-law, Evelyn
Levine; sister and brother-in-law, Sara and
Ben Bar-Moshe.
She was the youngest daughter of the late
Philip and the late Ida Levine; sister of the
late Sidney Levine, and the late David (the
late Evelyn) Levine.
Interment was held at Hebrew Memorial
Park. Contributions may be made to
Yeshivas Darchei Torah, 21550 W 12 Mile
Road, Southfield, MI 48076. Arrangements
by Hebrew Memorial Chapel.

JEAN SOFFA, 103, long-term resident of

Detroit, died after a brief illness in San
Francisco, Calif., on Oct. 30, 2013.
She was the beloved wife of the late
Philip Soffa for 76 years; loving mother of
Sally Ann Perliss (Robert) and Dr. David
Soffa (Pauline), and the late Gerald Soffa;
adoring grandmother of Gail Austin,
Cindy Keller, Sanford Perliss (Jennifer),

Mark Soffa (Hannah), Steven Soffa, Naomi
Soffa, JoAnna Soffa and Audrey Soffa; lov-
ing great-grandmother of Danielle Soffa,
Erica Soffa, Michael Soffa, Chad Austin,
Brittany Freed, David Keller, Adam Keller
(Alexandra); sister of the late Albert Lutz,
Harry Lutz, Ben Lutz, Frank Lutz and
Edward Lutz.
Services were held at Home of Peace
Cemetery, Colma, Calif. Contributions may
be made to Congregation Beth Sholom,
1301 Clement St., San Francisco, CA 94118.
Arrangements by Sinai Memorial Chapel.

LUCILLE WEIL, 93, of Scottsdale, Ariz.,

formerly of Detroit, died Oct. 20, 2013.
She is survived by her daughter, Dr.
Judy Balan of Arizona; best friend, Allen
Bennett; nieces, nephews and a world of
friends.
Mrs. Weil was the beloved wife of the late
Gerald Weil; the cherished mother of the
late Joanne Weil; the loving sister of the late
Dr. H. A. Shulman and the late Charlotte
Fink; the dear mother-in-law of the late
David Siegel and the late Jerry Balan.
Contributions may be made to a charity
of one's choice. This announcement was
placed at the request of the family by Ira
Kaufman Chapel.
