PAINT YOUR POP ART
Remember paint-by-numbers? This is way more cool!
Graphic-designer Bonnie Swope has just opened the brand-new Paint Your
Pop Art in Keego Harbor. Artists-to-be of all ages can send Swope a photo, and
she will transform it into a guided paint-your-own Pop Art canvas, priced by
size (Petite, Popular or Pop Star). Want to drop in on a studio paint party? Just
email your photo ahead of time. Want to
schedule a private party with friends or co-
workers? She does that, too.
Swope will also send your canvas, along
with a fun bundle of supplies — including
18 acrylic colors, five artist's brushes and a
paint palette for mixing — for an additional
fee so you can paint at home or give as a
gift. And if you're really lacking confidence,
or just want to give the finished product as
a gift, Swope will have your photo printed
directly onto the canvas, ready to hang.
In addition to the Keego Harbor studio,
June Moon Furniture Store in Berkley will
offer Swope's supplies to create paint parties
in the store (up to 30 painters). June Moon
can take orders for customized canvases or offer stock-photography canvases
featuring the likes of classic Pop Art personalities like Marilyn Monroe, James
Dean, Mona Lisa and more.
