Flinn Foundation Grant
Awarded to JFS
Jewish Family Service of Metropolitan
Detroit (JFS) has received a two-year
grant totaling $124,000 from the
Ethel and James Flinn Foundation of
Detroit. The grant will be earmarked
to provide JFS staff members with
critical training in several therapy
and measurement programs that will
enhance services to JFS clients.
JFS intends to use a portion of the
grant to implement a nationally recog-
nized program focused on acceptance
and commitment therapy. While the
therapy has been recognized as ben-
eficial in treating a variety of mental
health concerns, it is has been proven
to be particularly successful in helping
depression.
In addition, the gift also will allow
JFS to train staff on an outcome man-
agement system that will track the
effectiveness of counseling services.
