DR. RICHARD SHUR, of Ann

Arbor, died Oct. 2, 2013, at

age 71.

He was the loving husband of
Beverley Francis Shur who pre-
deceased him in 2009; father of
Michael Shur, and Marc Lockhart;
brother of Linda Sage Alexander,
Marsha Isard and Cherri Shur;
grandfather of Phoebe Shur, Julio
and Raul Lockhart.
Richard was born in Detroit on
Jan. 4, 1942, to Sarah and Saul Shur.
He grew up in Flint and lived with
his wife, Beverley, in Ann Arbor.
Dr. Shur was a graduate of the
University of Michigan and received
his doctoral training in clinical psy-
chology at the University of Toledo.
He served for many years as a staff
and consulting psychologist in both
state and private psychiatric hos-
pitals, working with patients with
severe mental illness and teaching
students from various mental health
disciplines.
Dr. Shur was the author of

2013.
A graduate of
the University of
Michigan School of
Education and the
Stone
Oakland University
School of Social Work, Bobbie
never stopped caring for others. She
demonstrated her compassion as a
longtime National Council of Jewish
Women volunteer and board mem-
ber, a dedicated volunteer and case
manager for CASA, a loving wife,
devoted mother, attentive grand-
mother, supportive relative and dear
friend.
Mrs. Stone is survived by Charles
Stone, her husband and soul mate
for 62 years; her children, Martha
Stone and Kevin Murphy of Poland,
Maine, Kathy and Dr. Brian Levitt
of Atlanta, Ga., Douglas and Andrea
Stone of West Bloomfield, Ruth and
Robert Gorman of Highland Park, Ill.;
her grandchildren, Joseph and Elias
Murphy, Gregory Levitt, Noah and
Kateryna Stone, Julia, Lily and Sydney
Gorman; sister and brother-in-law,
Susan and Kenneth Lynn; many other
loving relatives and friends.
Mrs. Stone was the loving grand-

mother of the late Alexander Levitt.
Interment was at Adat Shalom
Cemetery. Contributions may be

in-law, Edna Chosid.
For 70 years, Mrs. Tann was the
beloved wife of the late Herman
Tann; the cherished mother of the
late Guy Robert Tann.
