"Many of my cousins sit on the board
with me and are my co-chairs. It's really
an incredible experience to be able to
work with my family in order to make
an impact," she said. "Our family foun-
dation's model is one that many founda-
tions look to for their own strategies.
We are extremely fortunate to be able to
participate in an organization like this,
and it has definitely brought us closer
as a family:'
Fisher participated in various initia-
tives at Gleaners, Jewish Federation
of Metropolitan Detroit, Michigan
Humane Society Temple Israel and oth-
ers, said her father, Phillip Fisher.
"She uses her heart first to connect
and then leads forward with her head
to image innovative solutions to create
greater impact. And her 'triple bottom
line' business brings supports to orga-
nizations, individuals and the commu-
nity," he said.

family members left the Detroit area
after graduating, Fisher stayed here.
"I always thought it was so impor-
tant," she said. "I was so rooted to this
community. If everybody left, how
could the city come back?
"Now, I'm seeing this influx of people
coming back, and it feels like every-
thing is rejuvenating, and it's amazing,"
she said.
Her older brother lives in Los
Angeles, and her four teenaged siblings
live here.
"I think my siblings, especially the
younger ones, get inspired by the work I
do," she said. "I hope to teach my broth-
ers and sisters about our responsibility
to give back to our community, and that
starting at a young age, like I did, is so
important:'
She is part of the next generation
of the Max M. and Marjorie S. Fisher
Foundation.

about the expo and where to sign up.
That's it.
"There are so many organizations
with members who have wonderful
businesses that would benefit from
exhibiting at the expo, and their organi-
zation can also benefit by receiving 20
percent of the table cost:'
Buffalin added, "The more people
that come to the expo, the more
enriched the experience will be. This
also gives the exhibitors the experience
of networking in addition to business
exposure.

"You never know who will walk by
your table or who you're going to meet:"
Buffalin likes to call the Michigan
Professional Women's Network "the
little engine that could:' "We run on
positive energy," she said.
That positive mental energy will be
on display at the expo from 10 a.m.-3
p.m. Oct. 24 at the Town Center in
Southfield. As Buffalin says, "Where
else can you meet 300 people on a
Thursday afternoon?"

A Network For Women

The Michigan Professional
Women's Network was formed in
1981 by a group of women execu-
tives looking for an organization
that would provide opportunities
for professional development and
personal growth.
Today, MPWN is an organization
of professional women of diverse
backgrounds — accountants, attor-
neys, bankers, career counselors,
educators, engineers, entrepre-
neurs, financial planners, psycholo-

gists and system analysts.
The network is designed for
career women who want to
increase their personal business
networks, gain valuable knowledge
and promote the acceptance of
women in business.
You can learn more about the
network and fill out an applica-
tion to join at www.mpwn.org .
Membership is $75. A table at the
expo is $180, which also includes
membership renewal.
