Hillel Day School of Metropolitan
Detroit has been accepted into the
prestigious academic institution
EdLeader21, a national network of
school leaders focused on integrating
select core values promoting 21st-
century education.
With its acceptance, the Farmington
Hills-based school is the first and only
Jewish faith-based day school in the
country to be included in the select
128-member nationwide organization.

With Gaucher Disease
Gaucher disease is a rare inherited
disorder caused by a deficiency in a
particular enzyme. It is estimated that
approximately 1 in 40,000 to 60,000
people in the general population have
Gaucher — and it is the most common
genetic disease among Ashkenazi Jews.
People with the disease often expe-
rience severe bone pain and fatigue
along with other symptoms. During
October, you can show your support
for people affected by Gaucher disease
and make a great fashion statement
at the same time by taking part in
the Steps Ahead of Gaucher program,
which will be distributing free green

coming weeks.

Library Rededication
At Holocaust Center
The Holocaust Memorial Center
Library will be rededicated in loving
memory of the late Gayle Sweetwine
Saini on Sunday, Oct. 13, at 11 a.m.
The library will become the Gayle
Sweetwine Saini Memorial Library
of the Jewish Genealogical Society of
Michigan.

Kids Kicking Cancer Benefits
From Serta's 100th Anniversary
Serta Restokraft Mattress Co. in Romulus is celebrating its 100th anniversary. As
part of the celebration, CEO and President Larry Kraft and his wife, Jackie, made
a donation to Kids Kicking Cancer, an organization that helps children manage
the stress and pain of their disease and treatments through personalized coach-
ing by black belt martial artists.
As a result of this donation, KKC will be naming a room in its Metro Detroit
facility the Larry and Jackie Kraft Healing Arts Studio.
