obituaries Obituaries from page 69 RITA KELLER GRANT, 97, of California, died Sept. 11, 2013. She was born in Glasgow, Scotland, on June 5, 1916, the daugh- ter of Anna and Morris Keller. She was born as Grant Rebecca. Her name was c. 1998 changed, according to Jewish "custom:' when, as an infant, she became seriously ill. Rita Grant became a name synonymous with love and selfless- ness. She was a den mother, an ORT and Hadassah volunteer and, a member of the Temple Beth El Sisterhood. She always gave back to family, friends and the com- munity much more than she received. A very special person, Rita is mourned, but celebrated, by those fortunate enough to have known and been touched by her love, gentility and graciousness. As a daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt and grandmother, she loved and was loved by all. She was the sweetheart and wife of her Ben for more than 50 years; the adoring and adored mother of Paul and Richard; the extremely close sister of Nettie, Edna, Eleanor and Don; the friend of many, the adversary of none. Mrs. Grant is survived by her loving sons, Paul and Richard; their spouses, Marc and Susan; her grandson, Michael, and his wife, Elizabeth; sisters, Edna and Ruth; her many nieces and nephews; her dedicated and loving longtime com- panions, Monique von Nagel and Maria Dillon; and friends. A graveside service and burial will be at Beth El Memorial Park, Sunday, Oct. 20, at 11 a.m. Heyman State University School of Medicine and served as chief of pediatrics at Grace Hospital in Detroit. Prior to starting his pediatric practice, Dr. Heyman served as a medical officer in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. His greatest contribution was the devotion and caring that he put into his life's work of treating countless patients on a daily basis for more than five decades. He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by family, friends, for- mer patients and associates. Dr. Heyman is survived by his daugh- ters and sons-in-law, Shelley and James Boschan of Bloomfield Hills, and Carolyn and Rex Lanyi of Commerce Township; son, Howard Heyman of West Bloomfield; grandchildren, Jason Boschan, Jonathan Boschan, Jared and Shira Boschan, Natalie Boschan, Arianna Heyman, Stephanie Lanyi, Jordan Lanyi and Jason Hittleman, and Dr. Leigh Apple; great-grandchildren, Seth and Sloane Hittleman; and brother- in-law and sister-in-law, Coleman and Judy Verona. Dr. Heyman was the beloved husband of the late Eleanor Heyman; the devoted son of the late Harry Heyman and the late Gussie Libby Heyman; the loving brother of the late Helen Cohen, the late Alfred Heyman and the late Bertram Heyman; the dear brother-in-law of the late Ralph Cohen, the late Frances Heyman and the late Esther Heyman.
