WANT TO KNOW WHO HAS THE
BEST HAMBURGERS IN TOWN?
of the most talented young people in
the state he says. Childhood friend
and former Ocean Prime assistant gen-
eral manager Scott Sadoff will serve as
Belen's director of operations.
Bistro 82's menu will offer "great
appetizers, salads and poultry, but also
top-of-the-line steaks and seafood;
Belen says. "I wanted our menu to feel
healthier and lighter than some of the
other restaurants in the area. We don't
want to feed people what will put them
to bed; we want our guests to finish
dinner and go upstairs for dancing and
drinks"
Comparing his offerings to Balthazar
in New York or Paris Club in Chicago,
he says the restaurant will maintain
a distinctly Michigan "feel" — and a
Michigan price point. Entrees range
from $15-32, with weekend features
that may cost more.
"For what we're offering, the pricing
is very approachable," Belen says.
The facility will have two bars, craft
cocktails, and unique wine and cham-
pagne selections will stand out. Belen
also expects his wine and cocktail
offerings will be unmatched by other
"non-national" brands in the region.
"We're spending millions of dollars
to make this a successful property,
creating more than 100 jobs, and
investing in our community and our
team," says Belen of his larger-than-
life approach to the Royal Oak dining/

"I'm not just a landlord; I'm a ten-
ant. I'm paying business and real estate
taxes, and I'm making a long-term
commitment and want to forge long
term, sustainable relationships in this
region:' he adds.
Belen is working to build his AFB
Hospitality Group into the leading din-
ing and nightlife company in the area
and is working to acquire new com-
mercial property, reposition develop-

grow and create jobs in Michigan. ❑

The 200-seat multilevel restaurant is mod-
eled after the work of iconic Mexican architect Luis Barragan. Mexican and
Michigan culture collide at this unique building, featuring floors salvaged from
Detroit homes built in the 1920s, and a kaleidoscopic array of colors for which
Barra* is famous. Numerous garage doors convert the indoor bar into an out-
door fiesta in the summer.
