Attorney Martin Krohner
Honored Posthumously
Attorney Martin Krohner will be
awarded the Michael Franck Award
at the State Bar of Michigan's annu-
al meeting on Sept. 19 in Lansing.
The award is presented to an
attorney who makes an outstand-
ing contribution to the profession.
Krohner of Farmington Hills, died
June 2, 2012.
Krohner was
a Wayne County
prosecutor from
1973-2000 and,
after retirement,
took court-
appointed cases
for those who
could not afford
Martin
representation. In
Krohner
1982, he founded
the Oakland
County chapter of Mothers Against
Drunk Driving.
"I am so touched that Marty is
being honored like this:' said his
wife, Linda Laderman. "Of course,
I wish he was here to receive it.
He loved being an attorney, always
reminding anyone he met to 'treat
people the way you want to be
treated:"
One of Krohner's admirers who
nominated him, attorney Stephen J.
Gobbo of Lansing, wrote, "Looking
back at Marty's work with the
State Bar of Michigan and the
Representative Assembly, and his
many years as an attorney in public
service, it is only fitting to consider
him as an 'unsung here'
In support of Kroner's nomina-
tion, Circuit Judge David Hoort of
Ionia wrote, "I am proud to say he
was a hero to me. I really looked
up to him and appreciated what
he stood for and what he did as a
lawyer"
