MSU Hillel Is Dynamic
In Support Of Israel
We read with excitement the cover story,
"A Good Place To Be Jewish: Michigan
State University has revitalized Jewish
life on campus" (Sept. 5), and appreciate
your efforts highlighting the renaissance
of Jewish life at MSU.
The dynamic growth of MSU Hillel
and MSU's Jewish Studies Program have
led to the emergence of a vibrant Jewish
community with hundreds of opportuni-
ties for students at Hillel, on campus and
in Israel.
We also read, with some disappoint-
ment, the letter "Supporting BBYO
Ensures Jewish and Israel Survival" (Sept.
5, page 5). The author suggests that,
nationally, campus Hillels are failing to
offer Israel education, advocacy training
and similar opportunities. While this
may be the unfortunate case at Florida
Atlantic University, at MSU Hillel and
the nine campuses represented by the
Hillel Campus Alliance of Michigan, this
couldn't be further from the truth.
Under the guidance of our Israel
Fellow and professional team, we men-
tor students to be confident Israel advo-
cates and proud Jews. Notable annual
programs include ICAT (Israel Campus
Advocacy Training), a weekly series
educating students to be stronger Israel
advocates, and IsraelFest, an annual
campus-wide program, attracting hun-
dreds to learn about Israel in a fun, fes-
tive atmosphere.
Additionally, our semi-annual Taglit
Birthright Israel Trips and Alternative
Breaks as well as MSU's nationally rec-
ognized Israel Study Abroad Programs
combine to offer a myriad of immersive
Israel learning opportunities.
Experience has taught us that build-
ing stronger cross-cultural relationships
across campus better allows for conver-
sation instead of protest. To that end,
MSU Hillel supports seven pro-Israel
interns and advises numerous student-
led Israel groups, including Spartans for
Israel, who work on campus networking
and educating student groups.
Like the letter writer, we laud BBYO
as a key organization and are proud that
many of its alumni are student lead-
ers on our campuses. However, we also
know that in Michigan, both Hillel and
BBYO are critical to ensuring a strong
Jewish future.

What To Do About
Jihad In America?
Regarding Robert Sklar's excellent essay
"Brotherhood Jihad" (Sept. 12, page 46), I
saw the Zionist Organization of America's
June 26 showing of the film Jihad in
America: The Grand Deception.
I wonder what was the outcome of that
showing? Who was annoyed by it, and
who was informed? Who became demor-
alized, and who was activated? Who
ignored it, and who bought copies of it to
share with others?
Too often, we see ourselves as just
individuals. "What can one person do?"
we ask ourselves. We don't give ourselves
enough credit to be able to make a dif-
ference; and anyway, we don't know
what to do about it.
Know that there are things we can
do; and we don't have to figure this out
all by ourselves because there are many
excellent organizations that point the
way to go. Just a few of them are Steve
Emerson's InvestigativeProject.org , Frank
Gaffney's CenterForSecurityPolicy.org
and CitizenWarrior.com, which not only
provides information, but also teaches
people how to effectively share that infor-
mation with others.
Brigitte Gabriel, a persecuted Christian
immigrant from Lebanon, heads ACT!
for America, the largest, national security
grassroots organization in the U.S. There
are local chapters where you can join with
others to influence local, state and federal
legislators.
I encourage all who ask "What can
I do, I'm just one person?" to go to the
website ActForAmerica.org, find a chap-
ter in your neighborhood, sign up for
their newsletters or sign one of their let-
ters to Congress.
In addition, connecting with one or more
of these organizations on Facebook will
enhance your ability to defend American
Liberty from the threats exposed in Jihad in
America: The Grand Deception.
Steve Emerson will be the featured
speaker at the Zionist Organization
of America-Michigan Region's 79th
Balfour Celebration, 7 p.m., Sunday, Nov.
10, at Congregation Shaarey Zedek in
Southfield. See the website MiZOA.org.

Film's Message On Jihad
Needs Wider Exposure
StandWithUs-Michigan was a proud co-
sponsor of the film Jihad in America: The
Grand Deception, mentioned in Robert
Sklar's essay "Brotherhood Jihad" (Sept.
12, page 46). It was important that the
Muslim Brotherhood's deceptive actions,

Most gratefully, Robert Sklar filled
that need with his detailed essay, focused
on the film's startling revelations. He
carefully recounted the stealth strategy
employed by the Muslim Brotherhood's
many affiliates, in accordance with the

Explanatory Memorandum.
Too few in leadership positions in our
community have accepted that detailed
document as a sincere strategic plan to
undermine and replace democracy with
a Shariah-based dictatorship in North
America.
I hope that Sklar's essay stimulates JN
readers to locate and study the document's
18-page English version on the Internet.
Its contents provide a perceptual screen
for identifying members of the "shadowy
camp:' as Sklar defined them, and their
anti-American/anti-Israel activities.
While on the Internet, please search the
website wwwstandwithus.com for more
facts about the Muslim Brotherhood
and their like-minded affiliates such as
Hamas. Learn about the BDS (Boycott,
Divestment and Sanctions) movement
and strategies to challenge these and
other threats to Israel's security and our
way of life in North America.
