ing, multi-storied build-
ings on the Wayne State
University campus in Detroit is a
short, newer, temporary structure
— a sukkah — sporting the school's
colors of green and gold.
Sponsored by Shalom Wayne, its
door is open to the community 24-7
during the holiday of Sukkot, which
begins Wednesday, Sept. 18.
"Shalom Wayne is a Jewish orga-
nization helping Jewish students on
Wayne's campus do Jewish things,"
said Rabbi Herschel Finman, who
leads the group with his wife,
Chana.
"We are here to augment the pro-

Shalom Wayne is in its third year,

year it is officially recognized by the
university"

Farmington Hills is hosting author
Dr. Bernd Wollschlaeger for a 3 p.m.
Sunday, Sept. 29, discussion of his
book, A German Life: Against All
Odds, Change Is Possible.
Sponsored in

Associates, the
program features
Wollschlaeger
detailing his inspir-

ing story of a man
Wollschlaeger
whose journey of
discovery ultimately
led to a crisis of
faith, family and religion.
Wollschlaeger was the son of a
Nazi war hero who received the Iron
Cross honor from Hitler himself. In
his quest to find answers to questions
about his parents and nation's past, he
set out to find the truth and, in doing
so, found a new life and separation
from family, friends and country.
His search eventually led him to
Israel, where he converted to Judaism,
