Rabbi Mendel Stein blew the shofar in honor of the upcoming Jewish New Year and gave the opening remarks. Afterward, all enjoyed a brunch. As part of the celebration, the school worked with the Bake Station in Oak Park to create a life-sized replica cake of the school for all to enjoy. On hand to help celebrate the spe- cial day were students who recently returned from summer vacation as ' well as donors Alan Zekelman, Clayton Zekelman, Barry and Stephanie Zekelman, plus other family members, including Andy Klein, and Dorothy and Hershel Sandberg. The Zekelmans, in honoring their parents, Harry and Wanda Zekelman, were major donors to the state-of-the- art complex.
