'Taste Of Melton' Event
Previews Jewish Study
Federation's Alliance for Jewish
Education is holding "A Taste of
Melton" informational sessions for
the Florence Melton School of Adult
Jewish Learning. The lessons will pro-
vide an opportunity to learn about the
classes that more than 1,000 Jewish
Detroiters have taken.
"A Taste of Melton" sample les-
sons will be held 7-8:30 p.m.
Tuesday, Aug. 27, at Max M. Fisher
Federation Building, 6735 Telegraph,
Bloomfield Township, and 10-11:30
a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, at the
Jewish Community Center in West
Bloomfield.
Melton instructors will teach the
sample lessons and Melton Director
Judy Loebl will be on hand to answer
questions. There is no charge to
attend.
At the Melton School, developed at
Hebrew University of Jerusalem, adult
learners from all backgrounds explore
classic Jewish sources in an intellectu-
ally stimulating, non-denominational
environment. The two-year course
meets weekly for 30 weeks per year.
New classes will be offered this fall
for the traditional Melton and Melton
PEP (Parent Education Program for
parents of young children ages new-
born-sixth grade).
Melton Year 1 classes will meet on
Tuesday evenings at the Federation
Building and Wednesday mornings at
JCC in West Bloomfield. Melton PEP
will meet on Monday mornings at the
Federation Building.
Because the cost may be prohibitive
for some people, Federation is offering
partial scholarships and payment plans
for anyone who asks.
For information or to RSVP, call
(248) 205-2557, email Bronstein@
jfmd.org or visit jewishdetroit.org/
melton.
