A wise man once said "CHANGE IS INEVITABLE." After 21 years in our present location, we at DARAKJIAN JEWELERS are
Closing our Northwestern Hwy store and moving to a new location.
My father, John Darakjian, started our family down this path when he was only 15 years old in his Syrian homeland. He
immigrated to the US following the 1956 Suez Canal conflict and in 1964 and opened his Jewelry Store in the Metropolitan
Building in downtown Detroit. As his business grew, he needed to add additional staff members. Since he'd always been
known as an honest, focused businessman, craftsmen from the old country would come to him for work. John always had
space for another craftsman.
In 1970 John moved his store to the Advance Building in Southfield, Michigan. In 1984 he opened his second store in the
Franklin Center Building. My brother Armen and I were brought up in the business. We would work summers and weekends
to learn different aspects of the family business. As the years have progressed Armen and I have assumed more responsibility
in the store. In 1992 we closed both retail locations and consolidated them into a state-of-the-art freestanding showroom in
our present location.
It's with a little sadness but great anticipation that we announce we are CLOSING OUR PRESENT LOCATION on the
Northwestern Highway in order to move into a new location at 101 Willits Street, Birmingham, MI 48009, which will better
serve our customers.
We will conduct a brief STORE CLOSING/MOVING SALE in order to reduce our inventory. We'd rather offer it to you; our
friends and valued customers at once-in-a-lifetime savings instead of moving it. We know many of you have been loyal
customers for years and regret any inconvenience this may cause you. To thank you for your loyalty we want to give you an
