System has expanded its
Comprehensive Breast Care pro-
gram to West Bloomfield. This new,
6,031-square-foot facility, located in
Suite 103 of the Beaumont Medical
Center, 6900 Orchard Lake Road,
offers pathology, radiology, mammog-
raphy and surgical services.
Nearly one in eight women will
develop breast cancer in their lifetime.
But statistics also show that if detected
early, it's highly curable.
At Beaumont, we detect more
breast cancer than any other hospital
in Michigan:' says Nayana Dekhne,
M.D., corporate medical director,
Beaumont Breast Care Program. "With
the opening of the new center, we are
able to offer outpatient services need-
ed by our breast care patients on the
west side in one convenient location:'
At the center, patients will have a

Meijer Hunger Program
Will Benefit Yad Ezra
Yad Ezra is partnering with Meijer
stores to provide hunger relief to
local families through the retailer's
customer-driven food pantry dona-
tion program, Simply Give.
The program encourages custom-
ers to purchase $10 Meijer food pan-
try donation cards, which are then
converted into Meijer gift cards and
given to a local food pantry in the
store's community.
Yad Ezra will benefit from

mend the best treatment as well as
provide for the patient's emotional
needs. The team includes breast imag-
ing physician specialists, dedicated
breast care surgeons, certified oncol-
ogy nurse navigators, cancer genetics
specialists, cancer rehabilitation and
lymphedema specialists, social work-
ers and nutrition experts.
"The single most important thing
a woman can do is follow early detec-
tion guidelines," Dekhne says. "It is
important to do monthly self-breast
exams and, at age 40, they should get a
baseline mammogram."
Clarkston artist Jan Mayer has left
a lasting imprint on Beaumont Health
System. A former patient and two-time
breast cancer survivor, Mayer provided
much of the art throughout Beaumont
Oncology Services, including art at the
new West Bloomfield center.

Southfield Meijer at 12 Mile and
Telegraph through Sept. 28.
For the second year, Meijer will
contribute $1 million to the 2013
Simply Give program.
"We applaud Meijer for their
partnership with us in helping raise
awareness about hunger in our com-
munity with direct assistance from
the corporate offices and Meijer
shoppers:' said Lea Luger, Yad Ezra
executive director.
