Tweens Assemble Kids' Snack Packs On Tuesday, July 2, seven tweens put together food packages for 500 children as part of Yad Ezra's newest initiative, the Summer Snack Program, a package for families with children on summer vacation and not in school. During the summertime, children are home more during the day and, with- out lunch assistance programs, a fam- ily's food supply has to stretch farther. Yad Ezra created these packs so kids have healthy and fun treats throughout the summer. The tweens created an assembly line and put together packages that included pretzels, applesauce, baby carrots, crackers, Skinny Pop, fruit rolls-ups, granola bars, peaches and orange juice. If you have a tween who wants to volunteer for one of the next two pack- ing sessions, Tuesday, July 30, and Monday, Aug. 26, both at 7 p.m., email Katie@yadezra.org . Space is limited. ❑ Contributing Editor Robert Sklar rsklar®renmedia.us Contributing Writers Suzanne Chessler Annabel Cohen Don Cohen Shelli Liebman Dorfman sdorfman@thejewishnews.com Ronelle Grier Esther Allweiss Ingber Harry Kirsbaum Lynne Konstantin Rabbi Jason Miller Allan Nahajewski Robin Schwartz Steve Stein sports@thejewishnews.com RED moi l) Managing Editor Jackie Headapohl jheadapohl®renmedia.us Contributing Editors Gail Zimmerman gzimmerman@renmedia.us Keri Guten Cohen kcohen@renmedia.us Printed In Michigan 6 July 18 • 2013 Breast Cancer Specialist Speaks On Jewish Genes Are there Jewish genes?
