eventeen Detroit-area
representatives recently
returned from Washington,
D.C., where they participated in
AJC's Global Forum as well as the
AJC ACCESS Global Summit.
Alicia Chandler of Birmingham is
the immediate past global co-chair
of ACCESS, AJC's young professional
program.
"The ACCESS Summit was an
incredibly energetic, enthusiastic
event with Jews from around the
world:' she said. "One morning a
few of us Detroiters found ourselves
having breakfast with Jews from
Denmark, Australia, Holland and
Miami. The weekend showed that
ACCESS is truly a global organization
and that young Jews from all over the
globe really want to engage in sub-
stantive issues impacting the future of
the Jewish people'
Charles Russman, who attended
both the ACCESS weekend and the
Global Forum, had dinner with Swiss
Ambassador to the U.S. Manuel Sager
at the Swiss Embassy.
"He spent several hours explaining
how the Swiss help the U.S. by acting
as an intermediary for Cuba and Iran.
He also talked about the strong rela-
tions the Swiss have with Israel (some-
thing few of us knew about), including
a multi-million dollar donation for
Holocaust evidence preservation. He
also explained the scope and history of
the Swiss neutrality principal:'
Russman, who lives in Birmingham,
attended that particular dinner along
with Frances and Julian Greenebaum
of Bloomfield Township.
Highlights of the Global Forum
included presentations by Secretary
of State John Kerry, Israeli Justice
Minister Tzipi Livni, the Foreign
Ministers of Poland, Greece, the Czech

Swiss Embassy representative
Anne-Lise Cattin Hennin, Charles
Russman, Swiss Ambassador to the
U.S. Manuel Sager, and Frances and
Julian Greenebaum

Republic and Azerbaijan.

of the complexity of world politics
and the importance of developing and
maintaining lifelong relationships with
players on the world stage now and in
the future said Bloomfield Hills resi-
