knowledge or permission, is absurd!
If a person decides to change their
outward appearance, that is a decision
they make between them and their
medical doctor. The inward help should
be done by professionals in that area.
To say this Web and mobile app will
be "entertaining and fun" makes me
wonder what type of person would
agree with that description.
Definitely not my idea of entertaining
and fun!

NAACP, Conyers Should
Have Rebuffed Farrakhan

As I read the article concerning Louis
Farrakhan's visit to Detroit ("Twists,
Turns In Black-Jewish Alliance," June 6,
page 36), I sat back shaking my head.
I didn't expect much from the NAACP.
The NAACP, in my opinion, just exists.
They have failed many minorities with
their silence when despicable acts were
committed against them. I speak from
experience.
Local NAACP President Rev. Wendell
Anthony and his followers seem afraid
to stand up to Farrakhan. I'm astounded
how Christians worship a Jewish Jesus, a
man who lived his entire life as a Jewish

man, but hate Jews. It doesn't make sense.
I was astonished when I read that
Rep. John Conyers attended. He is
a ranking member of Congress, for
goodness sake. He had to know what
he was going to hear from Farrakhan.
I was invited to attend Farrakhan's
2007 visit. As a black Jew who totally
opposes Farrakhan's views, I declined.
I didn't think it was a wise or safe idea.
John Conyers should never attend
anything like that. He is to represent
all Americans and should refrain from
attending divisive events.
If a white supremacy group gave
speeches against blacks like that, the
black community would be outraged,
especially the NAACP. Farrakhan also
spoke against homosexuals when the
NAACP just endorsed same-sex mar-
riage. Rev. Anthony, as a NAACP leader,
should have stopped him.
I realize there is a lack of social inter-
action between blacks and Jews. Most
blacks know nothing about Jews, prefer-
ring to align themselves with people
who look more like them, but listening
to negative speeches is not the answer.
I am proud to be black and Jewish and
will defend my beliefs against anyone.
