ILLYSE MICHELLE SHIREY, 42, of Henderson, Nev., died Feb. 18, 2013, at home, from cancer. Born on Nov. 2, 1970, at Sinai Hospital of Detroit, she was the Shirey daughter of the late Alan S. Lipshy and Harriet L. Weiss. She was the valedictorian for the 1988 graduating class from Southfield-Lathrup High School. Mrs. Shirey graduated from Northern Michigan University in 1991 with a B.S. degree in accounting. She was an execu- tive travel consultant for Egencia, the corporate travel arm of Expedia. Her previous employers included Underwood Travel Associates in Pittsburgh, American Express Travel Related Services and Maritz Travel Company in Atlanta. Mrs. Shirey also had a travel and tourism degree from Our Trays University of Nevada, Las Vegas' Heritage College. In addition to her love of travel, she loved to cook and read. She also enjoyed meeting others through her entrepreneurial efforts as a direct sales representative for the Pampered Chef, Tupperware, Thirty-One Gifts, Allie Cat Jewelry, Tastefully Simple and Damsel In Defense. She had opened Black Dogs Coffee House in Covington, Ga. Mrs. Shirey will be remembered for her smile, kind heart and her ability to sell the paint off a wall. Surviving are her husband, Todd R. Shirey; daughter, Meaghan; one brother, Steven Lipshy of Michigan. No services are scheduled. However, a memorial celebration of her life is sched- uled for Saturday, June 29, at friend Robert Meltzer's residence at 1706 Pearson Street in Ferndale, beginning at 11:30 a.m. Contributions may be made to support Meaghan's college education fund.
