Music for the Soul cancer
benefit concert will take
place at 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 28, at
Temple Israel in West Bloomfield.
Presented by Living for Music and
Temple Israel, featured artists include
Detroit's George "Saxman" Benson,
the Cliff Monear Trio and the DSO
Civic Jazz Ensemble.
Living for Music was founded by
singer, cantorial soloist and ovarian
cancer survivor Elaine Greenberg of
Farmington Hills. All proceeds go to
assist local cancer patients.

Mitzvah Day Volunteerism
On June 2, the Jewish Federation of
Metropolitan Detroit is sponsoring a day
of service. There are more than 20 oppor-
tunities and locations to choose from.
There will be an orientation with
a kosher breakfast and a kids' kick-
off party at 10 a.m. at Congregation
Shaarey Zedek in Southfield followed by
the selected mitzvah project.

Jewish War Veterans
Celebrate Memorial Day
The Michigan Jewish War Veterans and
Ladies Auxiliary will take part in several
activities during the Memorial Day peri-
od, including the Birmingham Parade
at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 19, and the
Dearborn Parade at 9:30 a.m. Monday,
May 27. The Jewish War Veterans will
also act as hosts for services at the
National Cemetery in Holly at 1 p.m.
Sunday, May 26.
In addition, they will sponsor veter-
ans' services at Machpelah Cemetery
in Ferndale at 10 a.m. and Hebrew
Memorial Cemetery in Clinton
Bingo Is Back
At Beth Ahm
Bingo is back with cash prizes at
Congregation Beth Ahm in West
Bloomfield on Sunday, June 2.
Doors open at 6:15 p.m. and the
games begin at 7 p.m. Admission is
$20 and includes a packet with a card
for each game played.
Beth Ahm is celebrating 120 years
as a synagogue. All funds raised
will be used to support ongoing

Help Build New Park
At Oak Park JCC
The Jewish Community Center in Oak
Park will host a community build and
garden planting for its new recreation
park, which will include play, rest and
fitness areas for all ages.
The public is invited to help from 9
a.m.-noon or 12:30-3:30 p.m. Sunday,
May 26. No heavy labor will be
involved, and volunteers do not need
any experience. Babysitting for children
ages 5-9 will be available, and all vol-
unteers receive a $10 lunch voucher to
Sara's Deli good for May 26.
Garden planting for the recreation
park will be 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
Wednesday, May 29, and 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
Thursday, May 30.
All events will be held rain or shine.
