n April 28, 20 delegates, includ-
ing members of the Anti-
Defamation League Sills Family/
Glass Leadership Institute and ADL board
members traveled to Washington, D.C., to
experience the organization's Centennial
Summit.
The Summit highlighted all that ADL
fights for and has accomplished in its
first 100 years through keynote speak-
ers and break-out sessions on topics
such as international and domestic
terrorism, bullying in schools, Israeli-
Palestinian relations, anti-Semitism
around the world and a host of civil
rights issues.
The Summit culminated with the
Centennial Gala, which featured remarks
from Vice President Joseph Biden and
included a series of tributes to individuals
and nations that had made a difference by

standing up against prejudice and bigotry.
Matt Bertman of Farmington Hills
said, "I underestimated the impact that
the summit would have on me, and it
was wonderful to have the opportunity
to go to Capitol Hill and meet with our
Congressional office to talk about issues
that are important to me."
Participants met with staff members in
the offices of Reps. Gary Peters, Sander
Levin and Kerry Bentivolio to discuss
immigration reform, reduction of gun
violence, Israel's safety and security, and
the Syria and Iran situations.
"One of the most impactful parts of
the ADL conference and gala was hearing
firsthand from individuals and families per-
sonally impacted by the ADL'," said Michael
Barr of Bloomfield Township. "Whether
it was religious-oriented hate crimes or
bullying, the ADL has been able to reach
so many people affected by hate"
