event celebrating eight
extraordinary community
members older than 80 who are great
examples of tikkun olam (repair of

the world) throughout their lives.
Proceeds from this fundraising
event, this year on May 19, benefit
the Jewish Senior Life Kosher Meal
Program.

Meet The Honorees:

Barbara Cantor

Barbara is a Detroiter with a gentle
soul, witty sense of humor and is an

immediate friend to all she meets. Her
professional experience as a preschool
teacher in Metro Detroit has enabled
her to reach out to so many lives. Her
love for family, Israel and Judaism
keeps her positive and proud. An active
volunteer for the Israeli Defense Forces,
she touches the world with her tikkun
olam spirit.

Martin Hollander

Born in Flint, Martin made his home
in Detroit and worked all his life to
better local agencies, organizations
and communities. A Certified Public
Accountant by profession, Martin has
held more than 21 leadership positions
in the Metro Detroit community. His
actions have always demonstrated that
volunteering to help others is truly time
well spent.

Joan Jampel

worthwhile projects that were in danger
of being demolished:'

Ruben's list of academic and pediatric
practice accomplishments is long and
quite impressive. Through his work,
he gave freely to those in the Jewish
Orthodox community, Russian immi-
grants and Holocuast survivors and
provided care to those in need. A highly
regarded teacher and author, many of
his most memorable experiences have
occurred through his endless volunteer
work in the community.
