Holiday Essentials

Volunteers pack

Passover supplies for Yad Ezra clients.

n March 10, more than 50
volunteers came to Yad Ezra
eager to help pack Passover
groceries for clients. The volunteers set
up an assembly line and packed more
than 1,300 Seders in a Box packages. On
March 17-18, clients picked up their
Passover packages with the assistance of
approximately 60 volunteers, who put
the packages together and distributed

perishables.
Clients received all the food items
needed this year to fully be able to cel-
ebrate the holiday. The Seders in a Box
included matzah, chicken, eggs, celery,
grape juice, matzah meal, gefilte fish,
horseradish, soup mix, parsley, apples,
walnuts, cake mix, carrots, potatoes,
cabbage, vegetable oil, borscht and
candy.

he Young Israel of Southfield
Annual Dinner was held March
10 at the synagogue, beginning
with a cocktail reception and then a pro-
gram and dinner for the 175 participants,
including many elected officials, such as
Democrats U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow,
U.S. Rep. Gary Peters, State Rep. Rudy
Hobbs and Southfield Mayor Brenda
Lawrence, as well as staff from the Jewish
Federation of Metropolitan Detroit.
Biyan Olam honorees were Harvey and
Marion Bronstein of Southfield — Marion
for her involvement in adult Jewish
education and Harvey for serving the
synagogue and many Jewish community
boards. Additionally, youth awards were
given to Chaviva Bluth, Erica Kelman and
Jonathan Korman.
