ELSIE COHEN JAFFE, 87, of Lakewood,

Colo., died March 6, 2013.
Born in Erie, Pa., Elsie moved to Detroit
in 1945; she married businessman Bill
Cohen in 1946. Together, they operated L.C.

Optical until his death in 1959. In 1970, she
married Max Jaffer (1915-1990). The snow-
birds had homes in Oak Park and West
Palm Beach, Fla.
Elsie was active in B'nai B'rith, was a
Brandeis president, and business and pro-
fessional consultant.
She was pre-deceased by her parents,
James and Ethel Schossberger; Detroit
aunts and uncles, Helen and Max Glass,
Joseph and Vera Weinfeld, Samuel Lovett
and Helen Weinfeld; brother-in-law, Louis
Cohen; cousins Dr. Charles West.
Elsie is survived by grateful children,
former Detroiters Roberta Cohen Cooper
(David) of Phoenix, Ariz., Donald Cohen
(Anne Barkhouse) of Lakewood, Colo.;
loving sister, Shirley Cohen Modiano
(Joseph) of West Bloomfield; cherished
grandchildren, former Detroiters Marc
Cooper of Phoenix, Jodi Cooper of Golden,
Colo., Suzanne Skigen (Ben) of Lakewood;
Jonathan Cohen of Denver, Colo.; precious
"little dividends" her great-grandchildren,
Claire and Leonard "Leo" Skigen; niece,
